Sharing is caring!

We were invited to attend a showing of Pretty Woman: The Musical in exchange for a review. All opinions are our own.

Let me get this out the way and tell you all that I have NEVER seen the movie Pretty Woman nor have I read the book, but I did know what it was about. When I was invited to see Pretty Woman: The Musical, I was super excited since I am a HUGE fan of any and all Broadway Theatre Shows. Though I usually bring my 6-year-old along to enjoy these shows, I remembered what I had read about the storyline, found it to be kind of inappropriate for children, and decided to bring my friend along instead.

The musical brings us into the life of a hooker named Vivian who has a heart of gold and a Rich man without care named Edward. The musical keeps us entertained with a few comedic parts and catchy songs. About the Musical:

One of the most beloved romances of all time is now on Broadway! Pretty Woman: The Musical, features direction and choreography by two-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde, Hairspray), an original score by Grammy® winner Bryan Adams (“Summer of ’69,” “Everything I Do”) and his longtime songwriting partner Jim Vallance, and a book by the movie’s legendary director Garry Marshall and screenwriter J.F. Lawton. Starring Samantha Barks and Andy Karl.

Once upon a time in the late ’80s, unlikely soulmates Vivian and Edward overcame all odds to find each other… and themselves. Experience the moments you love from the movie — and get to know these iconic characters in a whole new way — in this dazzlingly theatrical take on a love story for the ages. Brought to life by a powerhouse creative team representing the best of music, Hollywood and Broadway, Pretty Woman: The Musical will lift your spirits and light up your heart.

Though I never saw the movie, I did end up liking the musical a lot. I wasn’t sure what to expect since it’s a musical set within the early 90’s era when I was still a child, but I’m happy it did not disappoint! I AM NOT A HOOKER, but I found myself really being able to relate to Vivian and the life she desired and deserved. The Musical is currently performed at The Nederlander Theatre at 208 West 41st Street. Show Run Time is 2 hours and 30 minutes, including one 15-minute intermission.
