At Real Kids Shades they do not consider shades an Accessory, but a Necessary Gear. The Mission at RKS in to protect as many children’s eyes as possible from the damaging effects of UV radiation. RKS launched in 2002, when they couldn’t find an inexpensive pair of real protective sunglasses for their own kids. Their idea was to create affordable sunglasses designed specifically for babies and children.
The Wonderful People at Real Kids Shades were wonderful enough to provide me with 3 Pairs of Shades since all Children have different head shapes.
The Infant Hat/Sunglass Combo is for Babies 0-24mo and come in an array of colors! The UPF 50 Sun Hat comes with a Velcro chin strap to keep it in place. The 100% UV Protective baby sunglasses have a soft, adjustable neoprene band which I Love! These make the sunglasses wearable for long periods of time without you baby crying because the frames of their glasses dug into their little heads. There is also no more fear of kids poking themselves in the eye with the frames.
The second pair were the My First Shades in Pink Daisy for 0-24 Months. These just so happened to be my favorite ones! I LOVE how it looks on my princess 🙂 these are made the same as the infant hat/sunglasses combo ones, but instead of being able to adjust the glasses on both sides you can only adjust one. I’m not sure why the Neoprene bands on these are one side adjustable, but I’m still happy with them.
And lastly, My First Shades in Pink, 2-5yrs. These are exactly like the pink shades for 0-24mo, the neoprene bands are adjustable on both sides. I’m Excited to be able to protect my Daughter’s eyes from now at 6 Months, until the age a 5. Then, I will have to get the next sizes up!
Real Kids Shades is currently working with Prevent Blindness America, the nation’s oldest eye health and safety organization, to educate the public on the importance of protecting children’s eyes from the damage caused by unprotected exposure to the sun’s harmful UV rays.
The Melanoma International Foundation recognizes RKS for helping protect children’s eyes from permanent UV damage.
Real Kids Shades are also the first children’s line of sunglasses to be given the Prestigious iParenting media Award for Child Safety.
All Real Kids Shades are third-party tested to provide 100% UVA/UVB protection as measured by the strictest American, European, and Australian governing bodies. They’re CPSIA compliant, CE certified, FDA approved, hold four US patents and two Australian patents for their design. RKS are lead free with no bisphenol A or phthalates.
I’ve already recommended these shades to many parents. Especially those of children with eye problems. Pediatrician Recommended products are always Great!

I like the my 1st shades. The strap is nice as they tend to want to pull everything off at this age 😉
