Spring is here, temperatures are rising high and after a long winter, Children and Parents are spending more and more time outside. Although it’s great, it can be annoying with all the different allergens that also spring into our life ESPECIALLY skin irritations triggered by the high temps. Dreft has always been a family favorite so being a hypoallergenic product makes it a better option for many.I’d love to give you a few tips on caring for your little angel’s skin, invite you to a Twitter Party, and even offer you a Giveaway!

My daughter has extremely bad eczema so I have to be very cautious of the products I use to wash her clothing. It it extremely important that I only seek out laundry products that fight crazy stains while still staying gentle on the clothes for my Sensitive Skin having Toddler to wear.

Would you believe that Dreft is the No. 1 baby laundry detergent choice of pediatricians to be gentle and hypoallergenic on baby’s skin. It’s been trusted for over 80 years & comes with a baby scent beloved by so many moms while remaining safe and hypoallergenic for baby and toddlers. I’d love to share a few tips from Dr. Hes on how to protect sensitive skin during Spring Allergy Season.

Dr. Dyan Hes was recently named a 2013 top doctor by NEW YORK magazine, is the Medical Director of Gramercy Pediatrics in New York City and sits on the board of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. She said we should:

* Make bath-time beneficial: Over exposure to water can rob skin of natural moisture! I give my daughter 10 minutes for water play. Within that time she can play, I wash her up, rinse her off and done. Use warm water (vs. hot) and leave the suds for the very end of the bath. Use a mild cleanser to keep skin soft and itch-free. Gently pat the skin dry and end with an after-bath moisturizer to seal in moisture and protect baby’s soft skin.

* Protect Problem Skin: As I mentioned before, heat is a common trigger for eczema and as the weather warms up, there are a few things we can do to help prevent flare ups of such skin irritations. As some of you may know, the sun is strongest between the hours of 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. so try to shield your little love from direct sun exposure during those times. There are also apps available that can inform you of the hottest part of the day – which can be helpful for parents as they plan any outings with their little ones!

There are many more tips on how to further protect your child this Spring Allergy season and If you want to know what they are be sure to join @Dreft on May 9th from 9-10pm EST. They will be hosting a Twitter Party with pediatrician and mom, Dr. Dyan Hes (@gramercypeds).
