Discover the Ultimate 48-hour Adventure in Orlando with Your Kids!

Sharing is caring!

Yes, having a blast in Orlando with your kid in only a 48-hour time frame is possible. Like most of our travel decisions, it started with an email…

There’s something about seeing the subject line “FLASH SALE: Fares Starting as Low As $54!” that gets my smile going. When the flight is booked, the real planning begins. I search Instagram Reels with hashtags typically used for our upcoming travel destination to see the latest fun. From there, I then look up “wishlist events” that my child or I may have wanted to experience. Calculating and seeing what’s worth our short time is super important too. A bonus was the weekend itinerary that our resort had as well! Now let us help you discover the Ultimate 48-hour Adventure in Orlando with Your Kids!

It’s always best to rent a car when you get to your destination. You won’t be limited to where you want to go and drive to. Luckily for us, my niece usually lends us her car if she won’t be using it for the short time we are there. Our hotel offered shuttle buses to the theme parks, but if we’re not going there, then what’s the point? Another thing is to check if your resort offers a full kitchen or just a microwave so that you can make a quick stop at the local supermarket to save money. Enough of these tips and facts, here’s the itinerary that we followed:

48 Hour Adventure In Orlando – Day 1

Visit Family/ Shop For Your Stay / Explore

If you arrive earlier than Hotel Check-in time, use the time to visit family and catch up. We took an Uber to see Orlando Family and to pick up the car we were borrowing. It was a short time, but wonderful nonetheless. If you don’t have family nearby, don’t worry! This is the perfect time to get the groceries your family will need for your hotel stay. If you plan to have it delivered to your hotel via Instacart, shipt, etc., use your wait time to Explore areas surrounding your stay. This will help you familiarize yourself with what’s nearby (and not find out a whole day and a half later that Walgreens was right across the street for essentials ).

Check-In To Your Resort

Checking in to your resort can go one of two ways: Super-fast or Tremendously Slow. We stayed at the Melia Celebration Resort. It was one of the best places we’ve stayed in Orlando! Once you check in, hotel staff will give you a rundown of activities happening over the weekend. I also got the scoop on the Complimentary drinks of the day. Gabs and I decided to use the rest of the first day to get situated and soak up the sun by the pool. Our resort offered a kids club, pool basketball, Water Volleyball, mini Golf, and An inflatable water slide!

Depending on the time you reach Orlando, you can do one of two things. You can either stay and experience your hotel and all its amenities or explore all the surrounding areas. Even taking a walk down the streets becomes a sightseeing adventure. After spending some time by the pool, we decided to visit Disney’s Character Warehouse for the first time. If you’ve never heard of it, This warehouse is Disney’s Clearance outlet. It’s where you can get Mickey ears for as low as $7.99 and Loungefly bags for as low as $29.99! We were ready to have fun and spend money. We got hungry at some point and decided to end our night with a visit to one of our favorite steakhouse chains, Outback Steakhouse.

48 Hour Adventure In Orlando – Day 2

Day 2 of spending 48 Hours in Orlando was a surprise for us all. Petting a snake and a bearded dragon is never in the playing cards, but I’m glad it was happening. As I mentioned above, Meliá Orlando Celebration offers weekend activities. The theme for that weekend was Africa. Saturday activities included: Breakfast with Princess Tiana, Face-painting, animal encounters, Pictures with Black Panther, Trivias, and a Fire-spinning show.

After enjoying our day at our hotel, it was time to head off and meet some friends for a fun night at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. It was our first time going there and we decided to go to the H2O glow party! For those who don’t know, H2O Glow is one of Disney’s Nightlife experiences that only happens at some points throughout the year. Think Halloween and Christmas Parties at Magic Kingdom where you pay for a special ticket that only works at a certain time. The party was from 8-11 pm, but we could enter as early as 6 pm for 2 more hours of fun!

Free Popcorn, Ice cream, and soda all night is always a dream come true. The water in the park stays heated, therefore we didn’t have to worry about being cold. The dance party was surely a highlight of the evening, and I had an absolute blast dancing with Goofy, Chip and Dale, Captain Hook, and Mr. Smee!

As Of 2/23/24, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is temporarily closed. It shall re-open on March 17th, 2024!

Our trip to Orlando was fantastic. For families looking for a quick and exciting getaway, We would highly recommend that you use this post to discover the Ultimate 48-Hour Adventure in Orlando with Your Kids.
