Some events are fun.
Some events are memorable.
And then there are events where you’re standing in the near Times Square, milkshake in hand, belting out Hamilton lyrics at the top of your lungs and thinking, Yep… this is peak New York City!
The Alexander Hamilton Birthday Bash at Ellen’s Stardust Diner was one of those unforgettable New York City moments where Broadway, history, and pure joy collide right in the heart of Times Square. It was nothing short of spectacular.
Broadway, History & Pure Stardust Energy

On Thursday, January 8, 2026, held at Ellen’s Stardust Diner, located at 1650 Broadway at 51st Street in the heart of Times Square, the iconic restaurant transformed into The Room Where It Happens and honestly, there couldn’t be a more perfect place for a “Broadway meets history” celebration. They kicked off a multi-day celebration honoring Alexander Hamilton, just ahead of his January 11th birthday and right at the start of America’s 250th anniversary year!
From the second I walked in, the energy was contagious. The diner was buzzing with excitement and absolutely packed with people ready to sing, clap, and celebrate history Broadway-style.
The Stardusters Had Me Singing Every. Single. Word.

Ellen’s legendary singing waitstaff, The Stardusters, took the floor in Revolutionary War–style costumes, performing fan favorite songs from Hamilton. And I’ll be honest: I could not help myself.
I sang every lyric as if I were auditioning for the show. The room was alive with applause, laughter, and that magical Stardust feeling where strangers instantly become a chorus line. Shout out to Disney + for making Hamilton accessible to me 24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a week.
A Deliciously Decadent “Talk Less, Shake More” Moment

Now let’s talk about the milkshake because it deserves a standing ovation of its own!
The “Talk Less, Shake More” shake was delicious! It consisted of a rich dulce de leche milkshake topped with whipped cream with gold and black sprinkles added on for Pizazz. It was indulgent, theatrical, and completely on theme! At $17.76, it’s a playful nod to American history and worth every sip.
Sweet, creamy, and Instagram ready, I was happily sipping while singing my heart out. I’m ready for broadway to cast me somewhere.
A Truly Special Honor in the Room

One of the most meaningful moments of the day was having the honor of being in the room with Lin-Manuel Miranda’s father. Luis A. Miranda Jr. is a very well known Puerto Rican political consultant, activist, and philanthropist. He is also a huge supporter of the arts and Latino representation!
That alone made the celebration feel even more powerful. Kind of like a full circle moment for a musical that has reshaped how we experience American history. You could feel the love, his pride, and full respect in the room.
Happy Birthday, Hamilton!

The celebration also featured interactive Hamilton trivia, plenty of laughs, and a full-diner sing-along of “Happy Birthday” to Alexander Hamilton…led, of course, by the Stardusters. It was exciting, slightly absurd, and perfectly New York.
Ellen Hart, owner of Ellen’s Stardust Diner (and Miss Subway 1959!), along with Artistic Director Scott Barbarino, have once again created something unforgettable by blending Broadway, history, and pure fun in a way only Stardust can.
Final Thoughts: This Is Why I Love NYC!
This wasn’t just an event, it was a reminder of why Ellen’s Stardust Diner is an icon and why New York City will always be magical. Great music from your favorite Broadway shows. Incredible performers who also make sure to serve you well. A delicious milkshake. Singing at the top of my lungs. And being part of a moment that celebrates freedom, creativity, and community.
If you’re looking for a limited-time Broadway experience in Times Square, this Alexander Hamilton Birthday Bash is not to be missed… and it’s only running through January 11th!
Honestly? I’d do it all again in a heartbeat! Have you ever been to Ellen’s Stardust Diner?
